Why Valrico homeowners choose us

A lot of Valrico is nineties-and-newer building on bigger lots, which usually means a generous master bath with a garden tub, a neo-angle or corner shower, and twenty-five-year-old builder tile that has held up fine but looks every one of its years. Those rooms are worth doing properly. The layout is already good — what they need is better tile, a shower that’s genuinely waterproofed, and somebody patient enough to make all those angles work.

We build every shower the same way: cement board on the walls, the floor built as a mud bed sloped to a FloFX drain, every joint and every corner covered with cement tape and thinset, then two full coats of Laticrete Hydro Ban over all of it before a single tile goes up. No pan liner. You never see any of that once the tile is on, which is exactly why it’s the part most quotes stay quiet about.

Valrico is unincorporated Hillsborough County, so plumbing and electrical work permits through Hillsborough County Development Services rather than a city building department. The licensed pro doing that scope pulls it and we schedule around their inspections. Tile, waterproofing, vanities and finish work generally don’t need a permit — and we’ll tell you upfront if anything in your project does.

“This father and son team did an outstanding job. We would recommend them to anyone who is looking for quality work.”
Project — 01

Master and guest bath, one home, Valrico

Two bathrooms in the same house, two completely different personalities, and both of them full of angles.

The master is a neo-angle shower, which is the least forgiving shape in a bathroom: two forty-five degree corners, glass meeting on three planes, and no room for the walls to be out of square. The wall tile has a herringbone relief pressed into the face, so it’s not simply a pattern — every panel has to run the same direction or the light catches them differently and the wall looks patched.

The guest bath went the other way: patterned floor tile, white stacked tile in the shower, marble hex on the pan, gold fixtures tying the two rooms to each other. Patterned tile gets dry-laid before anything is set — you work outward from the center of the room so the pattern is balanced at the doorway and under the vanity. A pattern started from a corner announces itself the second you walk in.

We helped pick the materials on this one and ran the pickup, which is how a lot of our jobs go.

“This father and son team did an amazing job. Professional, courteous and quality work. They’re both extremely knowledgeable, helped picking up the tile for us and with some design. Steady workers, timely and responsible. We would recommend them highly.”

Herringbone floor set into existing hardwood, Valrico

Herringbone doubles your cuts and every single piece has to hold its angle. One course that drifts a degree is a wall of drift by the far side of the room, and there’s no correcting it once you’re past it.

This one runs as a field inside the existing wood floor with a mitered border, so the tile also had to be built up to meet the wood dead flush. A transition you can feel with your foot is a transition somebody measured after the fact instead of before.

Onyx-look porcelain shower, Valrico

Tile with this much movement in it gets laid out on the floor before any of it goes on the wall. You sequence the panels so the veining carries from one to the next, and the wall reads as one piece of stone rather than six tiles that happened to come out of the same box.

Matching hexagon mosaic on the pan and inside the niche, with a solid-surface shelf. Shown before the glass went in — everything behind that tile is cement board, a mud bed, taped joints and two coats of Hydro Ban.
